Ace general purpose jobbers length drills have been designed especially to meet the demand for low-cost cutting tools capable of providing efficient, long-life performance under normal operating conditions common to a wide range of industrial applications.
Of a conventional straight shank, two flute design, their point, lip relief, and helix angles were developed from years of experience in manufacturing quality drills for a variety of special purposes. As a result, Ace general purpose drills are also suitable for use on many high production operations involving cast iron, steel, steel forgings, and many other types of work materials.
In addition, by altering point angles and varying speeds and feeds, these versatile economical drills are readily adaptable to “short run” drilling operations on a broad range of materials and machine set-ups.
Text Box: Heavy Duty Jobbers Length Drills
Ace heavy duty jobbers length drills are designed for use in applications involving relatively hard alloy and stainless steel, as well as other medium alloyed materials of high tensile strength and low machinability. They are also recommended for drilling operations where hole depths are more than four times the desired hole diameter.
While identical in length size-for-size to the general purpose drills, these heavy duty drills have a thicker web to provide the extra strength and rigidity required to withstand higher torque loads. Webs are of proper thickness at the point as supplied, but must be thinned with repeated resharpening to continue obtaining the best results.

These Ace jobbers length drills feature wider, highly polished flutes plus a faster spiral which speeds chip removal. They are designed especially for use in drilling many types of materials of relatively low tensile strength such as aluminum, magnesium, copper, die-castings, wood, and some types of plastics.

While Ace slow spiral drills were designed primarily for use in  machining brass, they are also recommended for drilling pure copper, hard rubber, soft woods, molded plastics, and for producing shallow holes in aluminum or magnesium alloys. Their slow spiral and polished flutes assure rapid chip removal.

Although Ace type “M” drills were developed primarily for us in drilling nearly all types of molded plastics, they are also suitable for applications involving other work materials where similar chip formations are encountered. Type “L” drills are designed expressly for use in drilling plastic laminates, as well as some molded plastics.
For such applications, these drills are made with special point and lip relief angles to assure fast, clean penetration of the work. They also feature exceptionally wide and highly polished flutes which facilitate rapid removal of chips without clogging the drill.

First developed by Ace as an economical substitute for costly special tooling, the “longboy” drills have been designed for fast, efficient operation in a wide range of deep hole drilling applications.
While they are not recommended for heavy duty jobs, Ace “longboy” drills feature highly polished flutes and strong, sharp cutting edges that permit their use in drilling many different types of materials.

Made from the finest Cobalt steel obtainable and furnished with a 135° split point, these Ace drills are designed for use in machining hard, tough materials beyond the normal cutting capabilities of regular high speed steel tools. These include work-hardening grades of stainless steels, Titanium, high temperature alloys, and many other heat treated materials. In addition, due to their heavy duty construction plus extra toughness, hardness, and wear resistant properties, they can also be used at higher speeds to drill abrasive plastics, cast iron, and other types of difficult to machine work materials.

All are ground from top quality, solid, pre-hardened high speed steel to assure uniformity of toughness, hardness, and strength. Both series are normally furnished with tanged shanks as shown to permit their use with A.S.A. split sleeve drill drivers.

While Ace fast spiral taper length drills are of the conventional straight shank, two flute design, they feature a higher helix angle plus polished flutes to assure rapid chip removal from deep holes. Especially recommended for use in drilling plastics as well as non-ferrous metals, they may also be used with good results in a range of general purpose applications.

These heavy duty taper length drills are of extra rugged construction designed to provide the greater strength and rigidity required by many applications involving exceptionally tough, hard-to-work materials. Moreover, their flutes are nearly 20% longer than those of corresponding regular taper length drills to give you as much as 50% greater useful drill length. All have tanged shanks to permit their use with split sleeve drill drivers, 3-jawed chucks, or conventional drill holders.

Ace Superflute drills are designed to provide efficient, long-life performance in deep hole drilling. The parabolic flute design allows easy chip flow while minimizing the need for periodic withdrawal of the drill for chip removal. Like our general purpose drills, Superflute drills are of a conventional straight shank, two flute design and are suitable for use on many high production operations involving cast iron, steel, steel forgings, naval brass, aluminum, and many other types of work materials. Unlike our general purpose drills, Superflutes are furnished with a split point to hold the drill on center and to help prevent clogging. The parabolic profile allows the chips to flow while helping to increase penetration rates up to 100%.

This uniquely rigid drill is designed for applications that require a Taper Length drill, but only Jobbers Length flutes. The Ace Superflute CNC drill always has plenty of shank for concentric gripping after many regrinds. Ace Titanium Nitride coated CNC Superflute drills come with a 118° split point. 
Text Box: Aircraft Drills
Type A:  These drills are manufactured in accordance with A.I.A. Drill Specification NAS-907, Type A, for use in drilling aluminum, magnesium, mild steels, and other soft materials. While they are of the same overall length and flute length as corresponding general purpose drills, they are regularly furnished with a 118° included angle split point as shown and have a black oxide surface finish.
Type B:  These Ace aircraft drills are also produced in accordance with A.I.A. Drill Specification NAS-907 - Type “B”. Of heavier construction than Type “A” drills, they are recommended for use in power and portable drilling applications involving hardened and stainless steels,  titanium, and other difficult materials. While their overall lengths and flute lengths are the same as general purpose drills, they are regularly furnished with a 135° included split point and black oxide surface finish.
Type C:  These Ace aircraft drills are manufactured in accordance with A.I.A. Drill Specification NAS-907 - Type “C”, and are designed primarily for use with portable power equipment to drill holes in various hard sheet metal alloys of the heat-resistant, stainless, and titanium types. Due to their short length corresponding to equivalent screw machine stub length drills, plus their rugged construction and 135° included angle split point design, these Type “C” aircraft drills are widely used for sheet metal and body applications by the automotive, railroad, and construction industries. Furnished with black oxide surface finish.
Aircraft Extension Drills (6” & 12”) :  Ace aircraft extension drills are designed primarily for use in drilling holes in remote, hard-to-reach locations which could not otherwise be reached with regular length tools. Manufactured to A.I.A. specification NAS-907, Type “B”, these ground-from-the-solid prehardened high speed steel drills are of rugged one-piece construction which features long, straight shanks capable of resisting permanent bending when used to drill holes positioned out of direct alignment. In addition, they are supplied with 135° included split points to assure greater ease and efficiency of operation when used with various types of portable drilling equipment.

Made of top quality pre-hardened high speed steel, Ace stub length screw machine drills feature short, highly polished flutes and short overall lengths to provide optimum rigidity without loss of cutting ability. To assure rapid penetration of the work relative to desired hole diameter, drills through 1/2” are normally furnished with 135° split points while larger sizes are furnished with 118° regular points.
